Mecca thought that it would be a great idea to gather inspiration from a photo of a cake full of color and texture for Porter Street Workshop. We had no idea that Andrea of Sweet Details designed it and would later become a part of a successful project...
With a little over a month to plan Tiffany’s epic 45th birthday celebration; Tutu’s, Ties, and Tequila, this was definitely an event to remember! Tiffany chose to host her intimate party at a local bar...
With the current pandemic weddings have been put to a complete halt in some states, however, did you consider what would be the next step on moving forward in the future? Learn how to survive wedding planning during COVID-19 below.
First things first, confirm if your event date is still available as several events are being postponed until 2021 and 2022. Venues are giving priority to their brides and grooms who have already locked in their dates. Don’t forget, the venue’s calendar is already booked for the following year so if you are considering postponing your event act fast when it comes to reserving your new date.
Check with your event planner first and they will handle the rest by following up with your vendor and venue availability. As your event planner’s, we are able to thoroughly read your contracts to confirm cancelation, postponement policies, and understand the terminology. Once you have confirmed a date, let your guests know immediately so they can make the necessary travel arrangements.
How to survive wedding planning during COVID-19?
More than likely, for some time it may not be recommended to
host larger-scale events, as the government will still monitor the virus to
determine safer measures moving forward. Consider reducing your guest count and
host a smaller event. The CDC recommends that we wear masks to reduce the risk
of transfer; however, to keep everyone safe during event season I highly
suggest the following to take place:
Monitor your travel accommodations for different countries as the requirements vary in each area.
Make sure travel lifts are restored before reserving your flight.
Have a backup plan for your honeymoon and travel abroad. Check your hotel and Air BNB accommodations to make sure they are able to host you still.
Avoid cross-contamination by not having an open buffet or family-style meals as people will be very skeptical to eat and you do not want to miss getting your money worth.
Give ample time for guests to plan their travel arrangements no more than 8 weeks for people to make travel arrangements.
Set up sanitation stations at your event to ensure the safety of others.
Things to consider if canceling your booked event: losing your deposit and money collected.
Invest in travel and event insurance in the event something takes place you are covered.
If you are still seeking for a venue consider doing a virtual tour with your wedding planner. Be flexible with your event date as well as the weekend will be limited.
Avoid putting your event date on stationery as your date may still be subjected to change.
Do not wait for your event venue to determine your options for you.
Your guest count should not exceed the number of attendees required by your state.
Be mindful of the statistics in your area; do not jeopardize your loved one’s lives to have your wedding.
Do not hold off on planning your event, as there are always people who are out there that are 10 steps ahead of you.
If you insist on getting married, now elope and celebrate at a later date.
