What happens in Vegas finished in New York…
How we met:
One of my dearest best-friends Schelley thought that it would be a good idea for her sister, Angela and myself to get away for the weekend to go celebrate our birthdays in Vegas. I had no intentions of meeting anyone that weekend. I simply wanted to go out and have a good time. While on the Vegas Strip we walked around, met a few club promoters and people along the way. We were later invited to a club by the name of Moon at The Palm Hotel. Once we arrived we walked around the perimeter of the club to scope out the scene and finally made our way back to the front where we met a group of guys from Chicago. We were invited to their table that overlooked the dance floor and to our right there was another section where Tristan and a number of people were sitting at, mind you I was not paying any attention to what was going on.
Schelley, on the other hand, scoped out the area noticed Tristan and nudged me telling me that I better go talk to him. For those who know me, I’ve never been one to approach ANYONE, lol! I laughed and told Schelley, “girl I’m not thinking about him!” Little did Tristan and I know our friends were trying to set us up.
I recall being asked by a gentleman from their section, “why were we hanging out with the group of guys that we were with?” At this point, Tristan eased his way over towards where we were. I stepped down from our section as Schelley insisted that I come and talk to this man as I still did not pay him any mind.
However, what later caught my eye at that moment was his velvet wine colored blazer. I began to size him up and complimented Tristan on how much I loved his blazer. It was at that very moment when I glanced up and realized okay, this guy is attractive! The gentlemen who invited us over to their section ended up leaving and left the area to us girls for the evening where Tristan and I were able to further connect and later exchange numbers and the rest is history!
How I knew this relationship was different from the rest; how I knew I met the one?
While attempting to date was a challenge because I refused to bring just anyone around my son. I recall being a child witnessing my dad date a number of women and I promised myself that I would never have a number of people around my son especially if we were not exclusive. Tristan understood and respected that! Tristan did not meet Isaac until over a year after we dated. Keep in mind, when we first met, I was living in California at the time while Tristan was in New York. We talked every day multiple times a day to the point we would fall asleep on the phone with each other. We literally felt like this connection between us was different from other relationships we have both encountered pushing us out of our comfort zones. Not to mention the time invested in building a foundation in our relationship after being in a long distance one for five years up until this past June when we finally moved to New York.
Tristan: I knew Charron was the one by several different factors… There was a time when Charron and I did not speak for nine months and I called her on New Years Eve to wish her a Happy New Year. I wasn’t expecting much, however once we spoke it was like nothing never happened.
Charron: I knew Tristan was the one when Tristan began to open up more on how he felt about me, showing up for my son and myself when we least expected it. There was a time when Isaac was down and Tristan hopped on an 18-hour train ride to be by his side.
The Proposal: took place within the comforts of our home over a morning of pillow talk. Tristan and I have always discussed marriage and how important it is to us come together to unite both of our families as one. We found it very important to show our children the importance of stability in a two parent household not just dating, but solidifying our union by getting married.
How has wedding planning been so far?
Wedding planning has been very easy as I never envisioned having a large wedding. We have invited our closest friends and relatives to our intimate wedding ceremony followed by dinner afterwards.
