A number of people can relate when asked how did they meet their now soon-to-be spouse, that they were simply going out with their friends to have a good time with no intentions on meeting their lifetime partner. Read more about Brittany and Barry’s first encounter below.

How did you both meet?
Brittany, a flight attendant met Barry in 2009 at a college foam party in New Orleans. One of Barry’s friends was talking to Brittany and for some reason Barry interrupted their conversation. That’s when Brittany told Barry, “Hey! You’re cute!” From there they talked, danced and exchanged numbers.
New Orleans Style First Date…
On their first date they went to the French Quarter Festival and later had dinner at the House of Blues. Brittany offered to contribute $20 toward the meal, thinking Barry would decline and pay for the entire meal. To Brittany’s surprise Barry took the money, and Brittany realized Barry wasn’t like other guys.
What Happens at Essence Doesn’t Stay at Essence!
During the Summer of 2009, at Essence Festival, Barry asked Brittany to be his girlfriend. Over a next nine years what began as a chance encounter at a college party developed into an undeniable love.

The Proposal…
Brittany expected Barry to propose on Valentine’s Day 2017, but Barry had other plans. Barry was aware of this expectation, so he waited until the next day to propose. On February 15, 2017 Barry asked Brittany to help him study for the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam by calling out questions from flashcards he had prepared. The last flashcard asked Brittany, “Will you marry me?” After a moment of shock, Brittany said – Yes!

Do you have any traditions that you will do the day of your ceremony? None planned at this time. Just a traditional wedding.
Are you both in a sorority or fraternity; will you incorporate this in your wedding? Barry is a member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, however this will not be incorporated in the wedding.
